USIC Supervisors spend a lot of time in their fleet vehicles, canvasing their services areas. They are not only trained to be vigilant drivers, they ensure the technicians under their supervision are also trained and equipped for safety on the roads and along the roadways where they perform locates. Sometimes, accidents happen outside of what they are able to control; we are proud to share stories like this, where USIC field personnel are able to assist others in danger, in their communities.Wisconsin Supervisor, Jake Mogan, was driving home recently when he witnessed a severe accident on his route. Acting quickly, Jake pulled off a safe distance from the crash, turned on his strobes and put cones out to alert other drivers. He called 911 and described his observations to dispatchers, so that proper emergency services could be routed to the scene. Jake comforted the drivers and passengers of the vehicles involved, assuring them that emergency personnel were on their way. Emergency services arrived and thankfully, all parties survived the incident.
USIC technicians and supervisors are challenged daily to
implement safety in three key areas: Infrastructure, Our Communities, &
Ourselves. They positively impact their
work environments, by design. Jake's story is an excellent representation of the USIC Safety Culture and leading by example in his community, as well as our company.
