S.H.E. Committee Conference Provides Opportunity for Women of USIC

Members of USIC’s Safety, Health, and Empowerment (S.H.E.) Committee came together for a conference November 9-10 at the company’s Indianapolis headquarters to advance their mission of empowering, respecting, and educating women; promoting women’s rights, including the right to safety; upholding and influencing trusted policies and processes; and addressing social and cultural norms that can put women at risk.

Field technicians, supervisors, and managers met with leaders of safety and development; human resources; environment, health, and safety; and information technology on a range of topics, including career development, personal protective equipment designed for women, unique challenges women face in the field, and defensive measures for escaping from an attacker.

“The conference provided an opportunity for women in USIC Operations to meet in person to learn from, support, and encourage each other and provide direct input to corporate leaders of the areas which impact our daily work environment,” Cassandra Mills, S.H.E. Committee Chair and West Michigan Supervisor, commented. “We invite and encourage all female USIC team members throughout the company to join the S.H.E. Committee. Each unique perspective adds value and makes us stronger in advancing our mission.”
